While the “death of nature” invokes ideas long prevalent among environmental researchers, it is only recently that we have come to understand “nature” as potentially present in both city and countryside. This article explores how the fate of nature in agrarian areas and in the city of Mumbai are drawn together in an urban sacred forest, the Doongerwadi.
